The Canadian Military Journal publishes full-length articles and shorter opinion pieces on topics of broad significance to the defence community in Canada and abroad, including security and defence policy, strategic issues, doctrine, operations, force structures, professional military education, the application of technology, equipment procurement, military history, leadership, training, and military ethics. Its goals continue to be achieved by generating intellectual debate among the aforementioned constituencies, as well as other interested parties, with the Journal serving as the forum for that debate.
The Journal has evolved to become an important pillar in the development of the profession of arms in Canada, and a highly-regarded voice on defence and security issues. The Journal’s readership includes a very broad international audience. The Journal is subscribed by Canadian universities and major universities worldwide, by centres for strategic studies, by military and governmental institutions, and by national libraries in Canada and globally. The Journal also reaches Canadian MPs and Senators, foreign military attachés in Canada and abroad, and staff, war, and defence colleges in all NATO countries.
